Professional Speech Analysis for Clear American English

Speaker Facing Audience

What is
 "American Speech Lab"?

At American Speech Lab, we believe clarity begins with understanding.

We specialize in expert analysis of American speech and accent. We review submitted speech samples and provide structured, expert feedback on pronunciation, prosody, and clarity. Our approach is diagnostic, individualized, and grounded in human listening—not automation.

This service is designed for speakers who want clear, actionable insight into their American speech without ongoing coaching or generic programs.

How does it work?

Getting started is simple!
To complete your analysis, all you need to do is submit two short recordings.

Step 1: Read Comma Gets a Cure

Please record yourself reading the passage Comma Gets a Cure (376 words).

This typically takes 2–4 minutes to complete.

You can download or view the passage directly on our website.

This reading sample allows us to evaluate your pronunciation patterns within a standardized text used in professional speech analysis.

Step 2: Record 60 Seconds of Natural Speech

Next, record approximately 60 seconds of spontaneous speech (without a script).

Speak naturally, as you would in everyday conversation. We are listening for your authentic rhythm, pacing, and speech habits.

If helpful, you may respond to one or more of the following prompts:

  • What did you eat for breakfast?

  • Do you have any plans for the weekend?

  • What do you do for work?

  • Why did you decide to request a speech analysis?

  • What is your greatest hope or dream?

Please keep this portion close to 60 seconds, as this is the segment we will analyze.

What We Analyze

Once you submit your recordings through the form on our website, one of our speech specialists will carefully evaluate your sample and compare it to patterns of General American speech.

We assess:

  • Pronunciation accuracy

  • Rhythm and cadence

  • Stress and prosody

  • Patterns that may affect clarity or intelligibility

You will receive structured, professional feedback — not automated scoring.

Our Two Areas of Evaluation

Your analysis will focus on two key areas:

1. Clarity & Intelligibility (Essential)

We identify any speech habits that may reduce how easily others understand you.

Clear speech improves confidence, professional presence, and communication effectiveness. This area benefits everyone.

2.  American Accent Alignment (Optional)

If your goal is to sound more American, we assess how closely your speech aligns with General American pronunciation patterns and provide targeted recommendations.

Accent alignment is a personal choice. It does not determine communication ability — but it may support goals such as professional presentation, public speaking, or performance work.
